New Construction Works Herald Fresh Start for River Parks

A NEW wave of construction planned for Devine's $350m River Parks estate at Kelso, including a new stage and a town village, is set to boost demand for the already successful development.

Located 20km south of Townsville CBD and only minutes from the Ross River, River Parks has been a success with local buyers and visiting investors as the community provides an idyllic lifestyle and a great base from which to enjoy the region's World Heritage Paluma rainforest, the Great Barrier Reef and excellent fishing and swimming at Townsville's unspoilt Northern Beaches.

Devine State Operations Manager Peter Ryan said a new wave of construction starting in July would further enhance the thriving community, which has sold $50m worth of property since its launch in 2008.

"We're always looking at ways of adding value to our communities, and this is an exciting new period of growth for River Parks," he said. "We are committed to ensuring it remains one of the top residential developments in Townsville and our strong sales reflect this."

Next month, construction will start on a new 35 lot residential release, Stage 7B. The stage will offer residential lots of varying sizes, starting from $148,900.

Plans for a new town village, overlooking a large central park, have also been lodged with Townsville City Council and are under consideration for approval.

The 6800sqm retail precinct, which was designed by leading architects Andrews.Neil Urban Design Group, will include a convenience store, newsagency, childcare centre, takeaway food outlet and cafe.

Set on 72 ha, River Parks will eventually be home to more than 1,000 families living amongst sculptured landscaping, promenades of trees, parklands and open spaces, an abundance of walking and cycling tracks, a neighbourhood shopping market, and a beautiful parkside café.

River Parks is only 300m from the new Riverway precinct, a $30 million project spanning 11km of the Ross River riverfront which incorporates residential, commercial, cultural, sport, and leisure amenities.

The community reflects Townsville’s growing population base with a range of lot sizes and home designs suitable for a range of budgets, lifestyles and tastes. As well as the Riverway precinct, nearby amenities include private and state primary and secondary schools, the Townsville General Hospital, James Cook University, The Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE, and the Willows Shopping Centre making River Parks an ideal location for a diverse range of homeowners including young couples, growing families, and retirees.
